CHARITY GIFTS....HR WITH SUSTAINING EDI THROUGH PEOPLE EXPERIENCE WHILST BALANCING THE BUDGET

Executive Director of Diversity & Talent

As the Executive Director for Diversity & Talent at The Children’s Society (TCS) Michelle has been working in the charity sector for four years making the leap from the Rail industry just before the pandemic began. Moving into a new sector at a challenging time reinforced to Michelle the importance of a human centred approach to HR, and made her even more determined to bring her People Experience Framework to life at the charity. Michelle leads the people agenda and is passionate about positively disrupting the system of HR and creating the right conditions for all people to thrive. For Michelle this means valuing individual experience, celebrating difference and finding the ways to ensure that everyone feels included.

Making it to the HR Most Influential list for two consecutive years (2022 and 2023) and the shortlist for the British Diversity Awards 2024 (for HR Diversity Champion) has given Michelle a sense of pride and achievement and recognition for her approach. Previously Michelle had an extensive career in Rail where she learnt her trade, led people centred change and raised the importance of inclusion and diversity in a traditional environment.

Michelle is committed in changing traditional HR practice and demonstrating that when you do, positive change happens and both individuals and organisations can thrive.
