EDI – MOVING FROM RHETORIC TO ACTION, IS IT POSSIBLE?

Chief People Officer

Terry Roberts is the Chief People Officer at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a Shelford teaching Trust with over 14,000 staff and a turnover of more than £1.4b. He has been active on boards since 2014 and has worked at a senior level in HR in the NHS for over 20 years and across several Trusts. At a national level he has worked at NHS England as a Joint Director of Equality and Inclusion where he developed the NHS EDI Improvement plan. At a Regional level he led the workforce arm of the South East Turning the Tide on racial inequalities board that was highly commended by the Health Service Journal (HSJ). 

Terry is the 2023 Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) HR Director of the Year and was also voted in the Top 20 HR Most Influential Top Practitioners List for HR Excellence Awards in 2023. He has led his team to win the 2022 Skills for Health national award for Best People & OD Initiative for the OUH Wellbeing Programme and are currently shortlisted for the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Wellbeing Award in 2023 for supporting staff with cost of living. 

Terry is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), has completed the Top Manager Programme with the King's Fund, and is a certified Coach and Mediator.
